SYL Song Pick - Cross The Dancefloor (Chromeo Remix) by G.O.V.

Cross The Dancefloor (Chromeo Remix) - G.O.V.

Essential 5 - Arcade Fire

Someone once said "if you dont like the arcade fire it's cause you are not supposed to". Considering the state of music today I totally agree. You either like good music or you don't. There once was a time where there was a middle ground but today's pop music is so atrocious that mediocre music is passable.
Once in a while there comes a band so effing rad that makes you forget bout the Ke$has and the Biebers and the ridiculously sums of money they are making. With the release of their third studio album "The Suburbs", The Arcade Fire solidify themselves as the best indie rock band of the 2000's. The album is a pure masterpiece, from beggining to end. This of course is no surprise since their previous two studio efforts and first EP have been nothing short of epic, but somehow there are still people who just don't get it. Of course if everyone did, they would not be the hipster darlings they are.
I first heard AF freshman year of college. I remember watching MTV2 and the video for "Rebellion/Lies" coming on and thinking to myself, besides the most excellent Farrelly Brothers movie "Kingpin" I didn't know the Amish made music .  I immediately bought Funeral and became hooked. When they performed on Late Night with Conan O'Brien a short while later and I definitely was sold that these people where not Amish but insane. Watching Winn Butler and Regine Chassagne screaming at the top of their lungs while the percussion section pounded their helmets against anything they could get their hands on, was spectacular and it has obviously had a lasting impression on me.
About 7 years later here I am writing this post and thinking to myself how none of my feelings have changed from that day one. AND THIS IS MY POINT! Good music is always good! Really good bands will always be good! Arcade Fire is more than good!
So as always, here are what I consider to be AF's essential 5 songs. Download them and you will instantly become the coolest person in the room. Enjoy.

SYL Retro Song Pick - (I Know) I'm Losing You by The Faces

The Faces are an English rock band formed in 1969 by members of the Small Faces after Steve Marriott left that group to form Humble Pie. The remaining Small Faces - Ronnie Lane (bass guitar), Ian McLagan (keyboards) and Kenney Jones (drums & percussion) - were joined by Ronnie Wood (guitar) and Rod Stewart (lead vocals), both from The Jeff Beck Group, and the new line-up was renamed Faces. Faces released four studio albums and toured regularly until the autumn of 1975, although Stewart simultaneously pursued a solo recording career, and during the band's final year Wood also toured with The Rolling Stones, whom he later joined
